It Sure Looks Like the Ibrutinib is Working

5/21/13 – I met with Dr. Goy today to get the results of my first scans since beginning my Mantle Cell Lymphoma treatments with Ibrutinib 63 days ago. My MCL has reduced by 88%. All I can say is WOW!!!

I said to Dr. Goy ‘It sure looks like the Ibrutinib is working.” He responded... with a chuckle in his voice “it also helps to have good doctors.”  And I couldn't agree more. It also helps to have such a great support system of family and friends who are constantly praying for me. And, of course, with God, all things are possible.

Today I begin my 4th cycle and sure, I still have a ways to go before I stomp this Mantle Cell Lymphoma out of my life…. but let’s forget about all that for now and let’s celebrate 88%.

To help celebrate here is a link the Delirious’ wonderful “Happy Song” performed live. Enjoy!:

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
Matthew 21:22

More to come…

So very happy for you! My husband was diagnosed with MCL last winter and has struggled with this diagnosis. Even though his "numbers" are low, we have decided to go ahead with treatment. I truly wish Ibrutinib will be readily available soon for all patients. Best of luck to you and your family!

Hi MelleeJohn,

I am sorry that your husband has been diagnosed with MCL. I wish I had more information on the availability of Ibrutinib. Hopefully other MCL patients that are participating in studies are getting similar results to me and this will help move the approval process along. I will certainly keep you and your husband in my prayers.

That is GREAT news Rich!
I am elated to read this.
I'll be starting my Ibrutinib treatment in 1 month.
This is an exciting time we live in.

To MelleeJohn, please contact Dr. Michael Wang down at MD Anderson in Houston. There might be some studies you can participate in soon.

Peace & Love,

Keith

Hi my name is Caroline I am from Sweden and I must say that this is happy news to read. I am so happy for you, and som happy that my dad have a chance to try the same medicine, it gives me great hope. He will participate in a test were half of the patients gets Ibrutinib and the other half gets Torisel, we dont now wich one my dad gets yet. He got sick a year ago and had chemo for 6month, then they did a stemcell change, he got better, but sadly it came back after just two months. He is in a very poor condition today but on wendsday they are starting with medicin, I am so hoping he get the same you have =)

Hi Caroline from Sweden,

I am so sorry that your dad had a relapse so quickly. I am not familiar with Torisel but I have to believe that his doctors have selected treatments that they are confident in. I will keep your dad in my prayers. Thanks!!!!!

Thanks so much for the prayers. Keith - actually we have already seen Dr. Wang, twice. His position was to do a "wait and see" and, after seeing the trial available, it looks like the trials want previous treatment done. Because of that, we have decided to go ahead at Johns Hopkins (another doc there is doing research on MCL) and do treatment. My husbands biggest complaint is huge, swollen lymph nodes and extreme tiredness. I have been keeping an eye on Ibrutinib and the feeling is this drug is being fast tracked by the FDA and hopefully available before the end of the year. Truly hope it will be for all the other types of lymphoma it seems to help! Best of luck to you and the rest of those who are dealing with these lymphomas!!!
